Google will officially place a bid for the 700MHz spectrum. This new network would create another US-wide network. Google announced today, it’s intent to participate in the auction. The reserve price is $4.6 billion for the 700MHz spectrum. The winner will be required to allow use of any device as well as downloading any application to the respective device. December 3rd is the deadline for prospective bidding, however the actual auction won’t start until January 24, 2008 and could last until March. The most exciting part of this new spectrum is that Google is producing a gPhone and future revision of the Apple iPhone will function on this network.
